6-Chloropyridazine-3-carboxylic acid is an inhibitor of the enzyme benzamidine. It inhibits the production of dopamine and serotonin, which are neurotransmitters that affect mood and behavior. 6-Chloropyridazine-3-carboxylic acid is also an antibacterial agent that can inhibit bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme levulinate oxygenase. This enzyme is responsible for breaking down levulinic acid into levulinic acid, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen peroxide. The inhibition of this enzyme prevents the formation of levulinic acid, which is a precursor to pyridoxal phosphate (an intermediate in the biosynthesis of leucine). The inhibition of this reaction leads to bacterial cell death.
