It's a key component of the electron transport chain, which transfers electrons from food to oxygen. CoQ9 has been shown to have antioxidative properties and may protect against neuronal death by scavenging free radicals. Coenzyme Q9 also plays an important role in the synthesis of DNA and RNA, the maintenance of cell membranes, and the production of energy.
