Description:
2-Cyano-3-methyl-pent-2-enoic acid ethyl ester is a conjugated system that can be hydrolyzed to 2-cyanoacetaldehyde ethyl ester. It is a product of the Grignard reaction and can also be synthesized from carbon compounds. 2-Cyano-3-methyl-pent-2-enoic acid ethyl ester is used as a reagent for the conversion of nitriles to aliphatic esters, cyanoacetic acids, and alkylating agents.
