Cyclopropylbenzene is a chemical compound with an asymmetric carbon atom. It has been used to synthesize peptides, which are important for treating cancer and inflammatory diseases. Cyclopropylbenzene can be synthesized by reacting sodium-dependent glucose with cyclopropylamine in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid and sodium carbonate. This reaction produces a molecule that contains a cyclopropyl group on one side and an amine group on the other. The product can be purified by recrystallization or chromatography, after which it is converted to the desired product by chemical ionization.
