Name:
N-Cbz-L-homoserine lactone
Synonyms:
  • benzyl [(3S)-2-oxotetrahydrofuran-3-yl]carbamate
  • Cbz-L-Homoserine lactone
Description:

N-Cbz-L-homoserine lactone is a synthetic compound that can be used as a radioligand for positron emission tomography (PET) and has been shown to bind to the glutamate receptor in the brain. It is taken up by cells through a process involving an active transport mechanism. N-Cbz-L-homoserine lactone has been shown to have hepatotoxic effects and may inhibit uptake of other compounds, such as glucose, into cells. This drug also has been shown to be effective against bladder cancer cells, although it does not affect cancerous cells in other organs.
