- α-Cypermethrin
a-Cypermethrin is an insecticide that belongs to the group of pyrethroids. It interacts with the enzyme P450 and inhibits its activity, which leads to cell death. a-Cypermethrin has been shown to be toxic in mammalian cells at concentrations of 5 µg/mL or higher. This insecticide is also low in toxicity for humans, but can cause adverse effects such as skin irritation and eye damage at high concentrations. The LD50 (the dose required to kill 50% of a population) for rats was determined to be 1.59 mg/kg by intravenous injection and 1.98 mg/kg orally. The toxicity of a-cypermethrin has been assessed in various studies, including an analytical method that uses sodium citrate as the extracting agent and biological properties that include insect resistance.
