Description:Calcium orotate is a calcium salt of orotic acid. It is found in food and is used as a dietary supplement, pharmaceutical dosage, or pharmaceutical preparation. Calcium orotate has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. It can also be used to treat orotic aciduria, an inherited metabolic disorder that results from the lack of function of the enzyme pyrimidine-5'-nucleotidase. This drug is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding due to its effects on fetal development.
