1-Chloronaphthalene is a colorless liquid that has a sweet, pungent odor. It is used in the production of phenol, phloroglucinol, and other chemicals. 1-Chloronaphthalene's chemical formula is C10H8Cl and it has a molecular weight of 160.07 g/mol. It is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in ethers and petroleum ethers. The boiling point for 1-chloronaphthalene is 140°C (284°F) at 1 mm Hg pressure and its melting point is -65°C (-85°F). This compound will react with hydrogen chloride to form chloroform, but will not react with hydrogen bromide or hydrogen iodide. It also reacts with chlorine gas to produce chlorobenzene. 1-Chloronaphthalene can be found naturally in naphthalene as well as covid-19 pandemic
