2-Chloro-4,6-dimethylnicotinonitrile is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHClNO, which is a white solid. It has been shown to be an effective neonicotinoid insecticide for the control of various insect pests. 2-Chloro-4,6-dimethylnicotinonitrile has been shown to be toxic to honeybees, but not as toxic as other neonicotinoids such as imidacloprid and thiamethoxam. This compound has also been used in the synthesis of phenacyl chloride, a chemical intermediate used in organic synthesis.
