Structural analysis reveals that the molecule contains five rings and nine atoms, including one sulphur atom. This compound is chemically diverse, containing both heterocycles and alkyl groups. It also has low energy levels, which makes it suitable for use in antiviral treatments such as Covid-19 for pandemic influenza A (H1N1). Hydrochloric acid activates 2,3-cyclopentenopyridine to form an intermediate product. Activation energies of 2,3-cyclopentenopyridine are found to be around 12 kcal/mol.
