L-(+)-2-Chlorophenylglycine is a synthetic amino acid that has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes that are involved in the metabolism of environmental pollutants. It binds to these enzymes and prevents them from functioning, which prevents the accumulation of toxic substances in the body. L-(+)-2-Chlorophenylglycine is a stereoselective inhibitor with an inhibition constant of 4 µM. It is also an ester hydrochloride and immobilized on resin beads for use in kinetic assays. This compound has been used in the industrial production of clopidogrel, a drug that inhibits platelet aggregation and reduces cardiovascular disease risk. L-(+)-2-Chlorophenylglycine was shown to have an inhibitory effect on rat heart cells, which may be due to its stabilization properties.
