6-Chloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroQuinoxaline-2,3-dione is an antinociceptive agent that has been shown to increase the release of dopamine in the striatum by binding to dopamine receptors. 6-Chloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroQuinoxaline-2,3-dione is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers: S(+) and R(-). The S(+) enantiomer has been shown to be effective against chronic schizophrenia and psychosis. 6-Chloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroQuinoxaline-2,3-dione also inhibits glutamate dehydrogenase and mitochondrial respiration.
