- Quinoline, 2-Chloro-3-Methyl-
- T66 Bnj Cg D1
2-Chloro-3-methylquinoline is a quinoline derivative with antibacterial activity. It has been shown to be effective against tuberculosis and other bacteria by binding to the dna gyrase enzyme, preventing DNA replication and transcription. This compound also inhibits allylic oxidation, which is an important process in cellular metabolism. 2-Chloro-3-methylquinoline has been shown to inhibit terminal alkynes, which are involved in the bacterial cell wall synthesis and protein synthesis of tuberculosis. The molecular electrostatic potential of 2-chloro-3-methylquinoline is similar to that of chloride ions, which are essential for the functioning of the dna gyrase enzyme.
