Product Information
- 3-Cyclopropylmethoxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde
3-(Cyclopropylmethoxy)-4-methoxybenzaldehyde is a synthetic compound that can be synthesized by the reaction of isopropanol and ethyl acetate. The selectivity of this reaction is due to the high yield of the ether product, which can be recrystallized or purified by posttreatment with isopropyl alcohol. This compound has been patented as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. 3-(Cyclopropylmethoxy)-4-methoxybenzaldehyde can be used for the synthesis of other compounds, such as fluoroquinolones, which are commonly used in the treatment of bacterial infections. 3-(Cyclopropylmethoxy)-4-methoxybenzaldehyde has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
