4-Chloro-6-fluoroquinazoline is an antimicrobial agent that is active against phytopathogenic fungi. It has a pharmacophore with an aromatic ring and a thioether group. This compound has been shown to have broad-spectrum activity against a variety of fungi, including those resistant to other agents. 4-Chloro-6-fluoroquinazoline also has antibacterial activity and can be used for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria. 4-Chloro-6-fluoroquinazoline was shown to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli in vitro at concentrations of 8 μg/mL and below, while it had no effect on the growth of Escherichia coli at concentrations higher than 16 μg/mL. This antibiotic also prevents fungal growth by inhibiting DNA synthesis, RNA synthesis, protein synthesis, and cell division.
