Product Information
- 4-Isoquinolinamine, 3-Chloro-
- 3-Chloroisoquinolin-4-amine
3-Chloro-4-isoquinolinamine is a substituent that is attached to the isoquinoline ring. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of transcriptase and can also act as an analogue of nevirapine, which is a drug used to treat HIV. 3-Chloro-4-isoquinolinamine inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA by binding to the enzyme transcriptase and preventing the formation of RNA from DNA. This compound binds reversibly to the enzyme cytochrome P450, leading to methoxycarbonyl group inhibition. 3-Chloro-4-isoquinolinamine has been shown to inhibit HIV in human cells in culture by binding transcriptionally active sites on both tRNA and rRNA molecules.
