The second-order rate constant for this reaction is 7 × 10 M/sec. 2-Chloroquinoxaline has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes. This binding prevents the formation of an enzyme-inhibitor complex with the enzyme that is required for cell division.
