Description:3-Cyclopropyl-3-oxo-propionitrile is a model system that is used to study the anticancer activity of β-unsaturated ketones. 3-Cyclopropyl-3-oxo-propionitrile has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice with ascites tumors by inhibiting amine synthesis and inducing angiogenesis. This drug also inhibits tumor growth in vitro and in vivo by binding to anions, such as chloride and nitro, which are present at high concentrations in tumors, and hydroxylamine, which is found at lower levels. 3-Cyclopropyl-3-oxo-propionitrile can be formulated as a sodium salt for intravenous use or as piperazine for oral use.
