Cupferron is an inkjet-based, flow system that can be used to detect and measure the hydroxyl group in fatty acids. This analytical method is based on the reaction of ethylene diamine with a diphenolase activity to form an adduct. The adduct is then analyzed by mass spectrometry or x-ray crystallography. Cupferron has been shown to bind to DNA and show a high degree of specificity for prostate cancer cells. This method was able to differentiate between benign and malignant prostate cells.
