4-(4-Chlorophenyl)-5-methylthiazol-2-amine is a potent inhibitor of osteoblast function. It inhibits the production of interleukin-6, which is a cytokine that regulates inflammation and bone resorption. 4-(4-Chlorophenyl)-5-methylthiazol-2-amine also has an inhibitory effect on thiourea, a natural compound that is formed in the body during the process of purine metabolism. This compound is synthesized by methylation of 4-(4-chlorophenyl)thiazole (TCP). The residuals from this synthesis are excreted in urine as 4-(4-chlorophenyl)thiazol (TCT).
