Description:
3-Chloro-2-pyridone is a herbicide that inhibits the growth of plants by inhibiting photosynthesis. It binds to the enzyme ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase, which catalyzes the first step in photosynthesis, leading to inhibition of photosynthesis and cell death. This chemical has been shown to be effective against inflammatory diseases such as asthma and arthritis. 3-Chloro-2-pyridone has also been used as a clinical treatment for cancer due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis.
