cis-1,2-Cyclohexanediol is a chemical that is used in the synthesis of methyl glycosides. It is generated by the hydrolysis of glycosides with acid and contains an intramolecular hydrogen. The reaction solution is titrated calorimetry and kinetic studies. The product has been shown to have congestive heart-failure properties, as well as oxidative DNA damage at high concentrations. cis-1,2-Cyclohexanediol also interacts with papillary muscles in the heart and may be clinically relevant for treatment of congestive heart failure. Hydrogen fluoride can be used to produce this chemical from 1,2-cyclohexanedione. This chemical has been shown to have skin model activity.
