9-(2-Carboxy-2-cyanovinyl)julolidine is a monoclonal antibody that recognizes the human protein CD38, which plays an important role in the activation of T cells and natural killer cells. This antibody can be used as a marker for these cells. 9-(2-Carboxy-2-cyanovinyl)julolidine has been shown to bind to human serum albumin (HSA) in a manner similar to other antibodies that are specific for HSA. It is also able to bind to mouse monoclonal antibodies, but with lower affinity than the mouse monoclonal antibody itself. 9-(2-Carboxy-2-cyanovinyl)julolidine has been used as a model system for hydrogen bonds and membrane interactions with coumarin derivatives in solid dispersions. The activation energies of emissions from these molecules have been determined using this system.
