Chlorodiethylisopropylsilane is a synthetic molecule that contains a carbonyl group, a linker, and a proton. Chlorodiethylisopropylsilane can be used as an initiator for polymerization reactions and has been shown to be bioactive in the form of hydroxy groups. This compound is insoluble in water and has ether linkages. Chlorodiethylisopropylsilane may be used as a silylating agent in protein modification and has been shown to have antibacterial properties against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
