Product Information
- Chlorodimethyl(1,1,2-trimethylpropyl)silaneDimethylthexylsilyl Chloride
- Dimethylthexylsilyl chloride
- Chloro(2,3-Dimethylbutan-2-Yl)Dimethylsilane
Chloro(dimethyl)thexylsilane is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHClSi. It is a colorless liquid that is insoluble in water, but soluble in many organic solvents. It has been used in organic synthesis as a chlorinating agent and to convert alcohols to alkoxides. Chloro(dimethyl)thexylsilane reacts with chloride ions to form chlorosilanes, which are then hydrolyzed to silanols. This reaction mechanism has been proposed for the conversion of vitamin D3 into its biologically active form, 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. The use of this compound can be beneficial for the production of drugs and other compounds that require an alkynyl group or zirconium dichloride because it does not react with these functional groups. This substance also has patterning properties when using amide chemistry that allow for the creation of complex structures from simple building blocks
