4-Chlorophenyl Benzoate is a nucleophilic compound that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds. It has been shown to catalyze hydrolysis reactions and cleavage of esters, such as the conversion of benzoyl chloride to benzoic acid. 4-Chlorophenyl Benzoate can also be used for the optimization of chemical reactions using its luminescence properties. The reaction rate increases with increasing concentration of 4-chlorophenyl benzoate and reaches a maximum at 0.01M (1mmol/L). In addition, 4-chlorophenyl benzoate has been shown to have nucleophilic attack on hydrogen bonds, which may be due to its hydrogen bond donating ability.
