4-Cyanophenyl 4-Heptylbenzoate is a nitro compound that is used to detect the presence of cellulose in triacetate film. It has been postulated that nitro compounds are formed by the reaction of cellulose triacetate with diphenylphosphate. The formation of nitro compounds can be detected by microscopy and tissue culture.
