Chlorodimethylvinylsilane is a reactive chemical that can be used as a substrate film for the synthesis of fatty acids. The nitrogen atoms in chlorodimethylvinylsilane are responsible for its reactivity. This chemical has been shown to bind with human serum, forming particles that can be seen under an electron microscope. Chlorodimethylvinylsilane is also able to form an acid complex with hydrochloric acid and hydrogen fluoride, which may be due to its cationic polymerization properties. Chlorodimethylvinylsilane is commonly used as a precursor in carbohydrate chemistry.
