Description:

Cyclohexanethiol is a reactive chemical that can form metal carbonyls with metals such as copper, silver, and gold. It has been used to study the reaction mechanism of glycol ethers and fatty acids. Cyclohexanethiol is also an antibiotic that can be combined with other antibiotics to increase their effectiveness. This chemical has shown efficacy in treating infectious diseases caused by bacteria. The reactive group on cyclohexanethiol binds to the hydroxyl group on phospholipid membranes in mitochondria and causes a decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential, which leads to cell death. Cyclohexanethiol is also used as a detergent additive for particle compositions.
