Product Information
- Des-(N-methyl-5-tetrazolethiolyl)furolactone cefoperazone
Cefoperazone sodium impurity A is a by-product of cefoperazone that is created during the preparation process. It is found in freeze-dried powder injections of cefoperazone and tazobactam sodium. Cefoperazone sodium impurity A has antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae, but not against gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli. The long-term use of this product may lead to bacterial resistance. Liposomes are a type of vesicle consisting of an outer lipid bilayer with an inner aqueous phase. This impurity can be found in freeze-dried liposomes or in the form of solvents used to prepare the liposomes.
