Description:Calcium ascorbate dihydrate (CAD) is a model system of the skin tumor formation in response to ionizing radiation. CAD is a reaction solution that contains calcium and ascorbate ions. The optimum concentration for CAD is 8 mg/ml. This solution has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of microbial growth and can be used as an antimicrobial agent. It also has a protective effect against acute toxicities, such as those caused by ascorbic acid or sodium citrate.
