Oxone is a chemical reagent that is used for the oxidation of organic compounds. It is an orange-colored solid that is soluble in water and most organic solvents. Oxone can be used to convert primary alcohols into aldehydes, secondary alcohols into ketones, and carboxylic acids into acid chlorides. It can also be used to oxidize amines to nitriles or amides to nitro compounds. Oxone has been shown to react with guanidine and yield cyclohexanone. This reaction was found to have high yields (92%), as well as being sustainable and having low environmental impact.
