Description:

4-Chloro-2-(trifluoromethyl)aniline (4C-TFAA) is a carbonyl reductant that can reduce the C=O group to the corresponding alcohol. 4C-TFAA is an effective inhibitor of the reaction between oxalyl and chloride, and has been shown to be capable of inhibiting β-unsaturated ketones. It can also be used in non-nucleoside inhibitors, such as an acylation reaction with hydrochloric acid and copper chloride. 4C-TFAA is synthesized by reacting copper with acetic anhydride, followed by chlorination with phosphorus pentachloride.
