Cynisin is a potential drug target that inhibits the synthesis of glycol ethers, which are known to be cytotoxic. Cynisin has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against various carcinoma cell lines and may have therapeutic relevance. Cynisin also has antifungal activity, inhibiting the proliferation of Candida albicans in vitro and inducing neuronal death in vivo. The structural analysis of Cynisin shows an ester hydrochloride with a natural compound structure containing a sesquiterpene lactone group.
