Product Information
Name:Clavulanic acid ammonium
Synonyms:
- tert-Octyl ammonium clavuanate
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to penicillin. It is a combination of clavulanate and ammonium. Clavulanic acid blocks the action of beta-lactamases, which are enzymes produced by bacteria that can destroy penicillin before it can act on the bacterial cell wall. Clavulanic acid has been shown to be active against penicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter cloacae, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Clavulanic acid also inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium avium complex and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
