Cyclovirobuxine D is a natural product that has been isolated from the stem bark of a Malaysian tree. It has shown synergistic effects with other compounds, such as cyclovirobuxine, in enhancing axonal growth and energy metabolism. Cyclovirobuxine D has also been shown to have a synergistic effect with cyclase inhibitors, such as rolipram and rolofylline, in the prevention of myocardial infarct. It blocks the cytosolic Ca2+ channel by binding to the ryanodine receptor and inhibiting Ca2+ release. The drug also inhibits glucose uptake in epithelial cells, which leads to cell death by apoptosis. Cyclovirobuxine D can be detected using analytical methods such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) or preparative HPLC.
