Product Information

Name:3-Carboxycinnamic acid
Brand:Biosynth
Description:3-Carboxycinnamic acid is a metabolite of cinnamic acid and belongs to the group of phenols. It is a potent inducer of apoptosis in human carcinoma cell lines, with potency comparable to all-trans retinoic acid. 3-Carboxycinnamic acid has been shown to induce apoptosis by increasing the expression of proapoptotic proteins such as Bax and decreasing the expression of antiapoptotic proteins such as Bcl-2. 3-Carboxycinnamic acid also interacts with other transcriptional regulators, including all-trans retinoic acid, which may explain its potent cytotoxic effects. This compound has been shown to inhibit cell cycle progression at G2/M phase by inhibiting DNA synthesis. In addition, 3-carboxycinnamic acid can increase protein synthesis in liver cells, but inhibits it in cardiac cells.
