CongmunosideX is a saponin that has been shown to have anti-oxidative effects and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to be an effective inhibitor of cancer in a pharmacokinetic study. CongmunosideX has been shown to inhibit the growth kinetics of melanoma cells, and also inhibits the growth of other cancers as well. This compound is able to induce autophagy, which is a process where cells degrade their own proteins and organelles in order to survive during periods of starvation. Autophagy is essential for the survival of cancer cells, which depend on this process for energy production. CongmunosideX also blocks tumor angiogenesis by inhibiting tumor cell migration and adhesion to capillary walls, which can prevent metastasis. The saponins in this compound are conjugated with carbon sources such as glucose or glycerol and can target specific organs or tissues that are affected by disease or injury.
