Description:

Cyclopentylacetic acid is a fatty acid that is found in plants. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of HIV-1 infection, and can also inhibit the production of inflammatory prostaglandins. Cyclopentylacetic acid has been used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as Crohn's disease. This drug may have genotoxic effects by forming covalent bonds with DNA and causing changes in gene expression. Cyclopentylacetic acid has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. In addition, cyclopentylacetic acid can act as an antioxidant by scavenging reactive oxygen species and preventing lipid peroxidation.
