Product Information
Name:(E)-1-Chloro-2-Fluoroethene
Brand:Biosynth
Description:(E)-1-Chloro-2-Fluoroethene is a chemical compound that has two isomers. The first isomer, (Z)-1-chloro-2-fluoroethene, was synthesized in 1836 by the French chemist Charles Adolphe Wurtz. The second isomer, (E)-1-chloro-2-fluoroethene, was synthesized in 1914 by the German chemist Walter Reppe. The two compounds have different chemical properties and react differently with hydrogen fluoride. Hydrogen chloride reacts faster with the (Z) form than with the (E) form. The difference in reactivity may be due to a greater number of hydrogen bonds between hydrogen and chlorine atoms in the (Z) form than in the (E) form.
The two forms also differ in their spectra; the IR spectrum of the (Z) form displays an absorption band at 1630 cm−1 whereas this band is
