Description:2-Chloro-2,2-difluoroethanol is a nitrocellulose solvent that is used in the production of pellicles. It is also used as a cooling agent in lithographic processes. 2-Chloro-2,2-difluoroethanol has ether linkages and can be reacted with perfluorinated compounds to form ethers with high boiling points. This chemical has been shown to be toxic to nematodes and insects through its ability to inhibit cytochrome P450 enzymes. 2-Chloro-2,2-difluoroethanol is not known to cause phototoxicity or mutagenicity.
