1-Chloro-1,1,2,2,3,3,3-heptafluoropropane is a reactive aliphatic hydrocarbon that has been shown to inhibit corrosion in magnesium alloys. It is used as a surface active agent to prevent the adhesion of water and other liquids to metal surfaces. 1-Chloro-1,1,2,2,3,3,3-heptafluoropropane has also been shown to be an effective polyol for the synthesis of fatty acid esters and hydrogenated fats. This substance has a viscosity of approximately 2.8 mPa·s at 25 °C and can be used as a synthetic lubricant or fuel additive.
