Product Information
Isosaxalin is a natural product that has been isolated from the roots of Heracleum species. Isosaxalin is a cytotoxic agent and exhibits significant antineoplastic activity. It inhibits the growth of tumor cells by binding to DNA and inhibiting DNA synthesis, which blocks cell division. Isosaxalin binds to the enzyme topoisomerase II, an enzyme involved in DNA replication, resulting in formation of double-stranded breaks in DNA. These breaks are repaired through a process called homologous recombination, which is less efficient than normal replication and leads to cell death.
