ARC 239 Dihydrochloride is a cholinergic drug that is used in the treatment of neurologic disorders. It has been shown to be effective in vivo in animal models of Parkinson's disease and dystonia, as well as clinical studies. ARC 239 Dihydrochloride binds to the GABAA receptor on postsynaptic neurons, inhibiting the influx of chloride ions and causing hyperpolarization. This drug also has been shown to inhibit the production of nitric oxide by suppressing NOS activity.
