Description:
1,2-Dichloropropane is a chemical compound that has been shown to be genotoxic in animal studies. This chemical has been found to cause liver cancer in animals and may also be carcinogenic for humans. 1,2-Dichloropropane can be formed by the reaction of methyl ethyl chloride with water vapor or solid catalysts. It can also be formed when carbon disulfide reacts with water vapor. The absorption of 1,2-dichloropropane by the body occurs through inhalation and skin contact. The chemical is absorbed through the lungs and skin and distributed throughout the body via the blood stream. The most toxic effect of this chemical is its ability to inhibit liver cells from repairing DNA damage.
