2,5-Dimethylbenzoxazole is a nucleophilic compound that can react with nitroalkanes to form trifluoroacetic acid. It has been found to be effective as a primer for DNA synthesis and human urine analysis. When used in combination with sodium citrate and dodecyl, 2,5-dimethylbenzoxazole has shown significant antifungal activity against Candida albicans. This compound has also been shown to inhibit gene expression in the fungus Aspergillus nidulans.
