- Pyrimidine, 4,6-dichloro-2-phenyl-
4,6-Dichloro-2-phenylpyrimidine is a chemical compound that contains an aromatic ring and a pyrimidine ring. This molecule has been used in the synthesis of other compounds with biological activity. 4,6-Dichloro-2-phenylpyrimidine is soluble in hydrochloric acid at optimum concentrations and can react with malonic acid to produce a colorless solution. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in vitro by interacting with the enzyme's active site and inhibiting the release of amino acids from the enzyme's active site. The uptake of 4,6-dichloro-2-phenylpyrimidine into cells is facilitated by hydrogen bonding interactions with fatty acids.
