Description:

4-(N,N-Dimethylamino)piperidine (4-DMAP) is a phase transfer agent that has been shown to inhibit cellular melanogenesis in vitro. The active analogs of 4-DMAP are coumarin derivatives, which have shown potent inhibition of the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. 4-DMAP also inhibits the activity of chloride channels on the cell membrane by binding to the chloride ion. This may contribute to its anti-cancer effects. It also inhibits factor receptors and growth factors, which may result in an antiproliferative effect on cancer cells.
