Product Information

Name:
2,2-Difluoroethyl trifluoromethanesulfonate
Synonyms:
  • Methanesulfonic acid, 1,1,1-trifluoro-, 2,2-difluoroethyl ester
Description:

2,2-Difluoroethyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (2,2-DTFMS) is a chemokine that binds to the CCR5 receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of HIV and other viruses in vitro. 2,2-DTFMS also inhibits the replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) by binding to the Gag protein and inhibiting its function. This drug does not affect normal cells because it does not bind to the CCR5 receptor. 2,2-DTFMS is also an anti-inflammatory agent with potential therapeutic use for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. This drug blocks inflammation by preventing the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and nitric oxide.
