2,3-Dichloro-1-fluoro-4-nitrobenzene is a fluorinating reagent that has been used to introduce fluorine into organic compounds. This compound can be used in the chlorination of alkynes and acetylenes with a catalyst such as potassium fluoride. 2,3-Dichloro-1-fluoro-4-nitrobenzene is also used in the nitration of organic compounds. It is selective for the introduction of fluorine at the 3 position of an acyclic nitroalkane to form 3,4,5,6-tetrafluoronitrobenzene.
